How can CCIS help me stop "SPAM", junk mail?
Please note that the spam filter is current only
available for email addresses that end in
ccis.net or chesco.com or for commercial
customers who's email is hosted on our carriage
server.
Here is what you do to turn on spam filtering
for your email box:
1. goto: http://www.chesco.com
2. On the left side of the page, click on
"Customer Login"
3. Enter your username and password
If your email address is billh@ccis.net or billh@chesco.com
your username is "billh" (no quotes). The
password is the same one that you use to check
your email.
4. After you are logged in you will see the
"Customer Snapshot" page. From here you can
manage your account, view payments and invoices
etc.
5. On the top of the page you will see a tab
called "Emails", Click on it.
6. You are in the "Assigned Rate Groups" page.
Under "Rate Group" click on the link to the
service you currently have.
7. On this page you will see your email address.
Click on the link next to it.
8. You are now on the "Edit Mail Information"
page.
9. Click the radio button that is next to "Spam
Filter" to "ON"
10. Click "Update Email"
You are now finished turning on your SPAM
filter. Click on the
"Logout" tab in the upper right hand corner to
log out.
Activating your SPAM Filter is not immediate.
The filter will take
affect in approximately 30 minutes from the time
you update the
record.
What will my new spam filter do ?
================================================
Anything that the SPAM Filter tags as SPAM, it
will prepend the
string "SPAM:" to the subject of the message.
Why would I want that ?
================================================
Your email program has the ability to filter
your messages based
on many rules. One of which being if the subject
line contains a
certain string, and based on that string your
email program can d
o one of a few things with the message:
It can:
1. automatically move it into your trash folder
so you may review
them before emptying your trash.
2. automatically move it into a folder you
created called "SPAM"
for example so you can review the tagged
messages before deleting
them.
3. automatically delete them without you ever
seeing it
(WARNING! - -This option isn't a good idea until
you are comfortable
with the accuracy of the filter)
or:
4. You can just let the messages go into your
INBOX as normal and
"See" which ones the filter tagged as SPAM and
delete them as you
please.
Although we don't support other manufacturers
products directly for
this sort of thing, we will try to help where we
can. Here are some
links that should help you with setting up your
email filters to
automatically manipulate email tagged SPAM.
