Glossary - R
Real Time
A computing phenomenon that happens in the moment. For example, in IRC (Internet
Relay Chat) you can have a real time conversation with someone. This conversation
(which takes place through a keyboard) is happening as you type.
Robots/Bots
A program that "fakes" real conversation in IRC. Some IRC users are
so clever that they use IRC software to program robots (most commonly called "bots")
to chat with unsuspecting users. This is achieved by writing intelligent scripts.
