Geek

Not to be confused with nerd (geeks
donít wear pocket protectors), a geek is a computer goddess or god, or at least someone
who thinks they are. For more information on geeks, visit the alt.geek newsgroup.
Geographical Domain
The portion of a domain name that
indicates the country of origin. For example: .jp indicates Japan; .ca indicates
Canada.
Gigabyte
1024 megabytes, or roughly one
billion bytes. (Also see Bytes and Bits.)
Gopher/Gopherspace
Gopher is a menu-oriented tool
that lets you retrieve information stored in gopher servers worldwide. Collectively,
these gopher sites are called "gopherspace."
Gopher Client
A program on your desktop computer
or local server that facilitates the exploration of gopher servers.
GUI (Graphical User Interface)
A graphically based method of
working with a computer. Instead of typing commands at a prompt, you can use your
mouse to click on buttons, or select commands from a pull-down menu. Windows and
Macintosh are both examples of GUIs. Pronounced "gooey".
