How iPass Works
iPass forms relationships with ISPs around the world that have the highest quality
Internet access networks and that provide access in far reaching locations. iPass
provides software to CCIS that enables these access networks to be available to you.
This software facilitates secure routing of user authentication requests over the
Internet between CCIS and other providers.
When you travel outside of our regular service area, you can dial into any of the
worldwide iPass access points using your iPass connection software. You log in with
your standard user name and password (appending @ccis.net at the end of your user
name, e.g. john@ccis.net). Your authentication request is encrypted and sent over
the Internet to your home provider's authentication server. The server checks your
information and sends an authorization response (or denial if appropriate) back to
the ISP you are dialing into so that you can gain access to the Internet. This process
takes about five to ten seconds. iPass tracks the time you are connected to enable
us to accurately bill you for the services used.
What are the available roaming numbers?
The roaming coverage extends to more than 150 countries and more than 3,000 locations.
You can now enjoy local-call access to the Internet from every major city in the
world.
